Specialty contact lenses
Custom, specialty contact lenses may be necessary for certain eye conditions, the most common being corneal ectasias (keratoconus, pellucid marginal degeneration, post-LASIK ectasia), corneal transplants or certain corneal injuries. These condntions create an irregular cornea that soft contact lenses cannot correct.

At Carbon Valley Eye Care we have over a decade of experience with all kinds of lenses on all types of eyes. Our level of experience means that you will get the best lens for your eye. We will work with you and help you find the specialty lenses that will work best for your eyes and visual needs.
Specialty lenses come in 4 global categories, all of which we provide:
benefits:
-
Many of these specialty lenses can correct astigmatism, or work as bifocals, allowing patients to have clear vision in the distance and up close.
-
These lenses provide the best clarity for patients with irregular corneas where glasses and traditional contact lenses fall short.
scleral
contact lenses
Scleral lenses are large diameter rigid gas permeable contact lenses that rest on the sclera, the white part of the eye, rather than on the cornea.
The space between the scleral lens and the cornea is filled with a fluid-filled reservoir that helps to compensate for any corneal irregularities by creating a perfectly rounded surface, resulting in clear and comfortable vision.

Comfort
BENEFITS OF SCLERAL LENSES
Scleral lenses are designed to be comfortable, with most patients reporting that they are the most comfortable contact lens they have ever worn.
02
Clear Vision
Scleral lenses can provide clear and sharp vision, particularly for patients with corneal diseases, dystrophies, and degenerations, corneal scars and irregularities, and those who have had corneal transplant or refractive surgery.
03
Versatility
Scleral lenses can be used to correct a variety of vision problems, including keratoconus, myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism.
04
Protection
05
Scleral lenses can provide protection for the cornea, particularly for patients with severe dry eye or other ocular surface conditions.
Long-Lasting
With proper care and maintenance, scleral lenses can provide long-lasting vision correction.
